Save India's beaches!!!

We all love our country but always wish for it to be as clean as a foreign country and as pretty as a foreign country..Inorder to follow what we wish for, we must act on it.

I have been following a campaign on www.ndtv.com called SAVE INDIA'S BEACHES..An extensive campain that is working on saving India's beaches from erosion. One of the causes of beach erosion found is the human activity that interferes with sea dynamics such as ports.Ports are to be believed cause massive erosion accross beaches up north. Chennai have clearly shown that all ports lead to erosion in the north side. The waves keep invading the villages every time the sea turns rough and even the artificial sand barrier provides no protection at all.In fact the beaches have been reduced by almost one to one and half kms.
A concerned reader of the NDTV campaign stated the fact that there was little awareness among the people about the need to have beaches as part of our ecosystem.'People in Kerala have already lost the Kochi beach, and god knows how many others, thanks to the Vallarpadam, Dubai Port. The greedy land Mafia with connivance of the politicians are going ahead with another port in Vizhizham, which is just around 3 km from the famous beach of Kovalam.'..it is extremely shocking as to how most state governments are making things worse.
Termed as one of the biggest disasters facing India's environment. India has lost almost half its beaches along its once beautiful coastline. And in a few years from now, won't have a single beach left, all due to thoughtless planning and improper implementation. However It's not too late – many miles of beaches can still be saved to which the government is doing nothing. It's time we did something to stop this.Once again I am exteremly happy with NDTV in doing its bit by highlighting the disastrous effects of this large scale erosion and playing its part in ensuring a beautiful India.

Plz be a part of this campaign by not only joining it on  http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/new/NDTV-Show-Special.aspx?ID=169
but by actually making a difference.
